Founded by Elías Alonso, Henri Huselstein and myself in 2019, AUCTA is a venture to enable companies to utilize their spatial data to improve business processes.

AUCTA provides a 3D content enhancement platform to machine, vehicle, appliance and other manufacturers in the European space.

My responsibilities range from vision to fundraising, to customer acquisition, to team building, to fostering the culture, to managing clients and releasing product version after product version. As a Chief Product Officer I do however put most of my focus into customer guided product development.

Product User Interfaces

The main 2D-UI elements of the consumer experience are held on the outer edge to enable users the full focus on the centered 3D content.

Organization
design

The difference between creating a venture and designing for a project is that the design focus lies in a different layer to achieve great results.

While both tasks (org design and designing a feature) benefit from similar design principles, aiming to repeatedly achieve greatness within a product starts by forming the right team, which then builds the product.

In a leadership role it is obligatory to keep all efforts in improvements on the team level and not manage deeper levels.

3D Cross-Device Application

Simplification

All functional elements of the interface are carefully specified in size and position to provide maximum accessibility for the actual content much like a video player UI should not harm the possibility to consume content.

Intuitiveness

The key to an effective user interface and experience is when the majority of users have no trouble operating the product for the very first time, especially when many users only have sporadic interaction with AUCTA.

Redefining
the status quo

All functional elements of the interface are carefully specified in size and position to provide maximum accessibility for the actual content much like a video player UI should not harm the possibility to consume content.

Instant availability

The deep tech challenge with AUCTA is allowing users to access content instantly without huge loading times or UX barriers like app downloads. The competitive landscape wasn’t able to provide that to the market which gives AUCTA a technological advantage.

Vision = Identity

Aucta logo

A 5 letter, 2 syllable word – easy to pronounce with little room for misinterpretation in its spoken form. English speakers pronounce it “okta”, Germans like to say it with an “au” – both is good.

A functional element to a good name is its shortness and memorability build the foundation for a strong software brand.

Aucta Typography

The form of the logo letters can be painted with a paint roller by hand – that’s where it originally comes from. This strong DNA from manual labor poured into the digital world equals AUCTAs practical applications strong link to non-virtual work activities.

Aucta imagotipo

The AUCTA symbol is the symbol for “interface” in the computer science flow graph language (yeah... hardly anyone knows this anymore). Reading it “from left to right” narrates a story of turning something digital and invisible into something humanly visible.

Auctare

Latin, verb

To enrich, to increase

A 5 letter, 2 syllable word – easy to pronounce with little room for misinterpretation in its spoken form. English speakers pronounce it “okta”, Germans like to say it with an “au” – both is good.

A functional element to a good name is its shortness and memorability, both of which AUCTA seemed to have worked really well so far.

Values

Autonomy

Enable AUCTAs customers to leverage 3D data with internal teams and resources and act autonomously with how they want to use their data.

Devotion

Put the customers needs first and devote the entire creational process to what generates most benefit for customers.

Innovation

Innovation results through a cultural set of behaviors in open and critical thinking and creativity.

Joy

Media creation, be it photography, video, text, audio, 3D content and anything in between can and should be a joyful process. The joy in the process of creation shines through to what customers get.

Aucta Team

With an office in Berlin and one in Madrid and a global remote team, time spent together in the same location is always a highlight everyone’s looking forward to.
